The Washington-Wilkes Garden Club met Thursday, January 12, at the Mary Willis Library.

Mabel Johnson presided and opened with the devotional, “The Garden,” by Mrs. Henry Adams.

During the business meeting members joined in compiling information for the president’s yearly report.

Members voted to give $25 to the Natural Disaster Relief Fund to aid in replanting areas devastated by the hurricanes and $25 to aid in repairing a roof in the garden at the Mary Brown Pavilion at Central State Hospital in Milledgeville.

Mrs. Johnson presented an interesting and informative program on the care and fertilizing of houseplants.

Dr. Sophia Bamford made an announcement concerning the planting of trees in conjunction with Arbor Day in late April.

Mrs. Johnson, hostess, served delicious refreshments to members attending, Celeste Adams, Dr. Sophia Bamford, Faye Durham, Mabel Johnson, Pat Mack, Henry Moone, Mary Webster and Mae Butler.
