Black Families Festival of Love set for Saturday at Booker Park
“We’re expecting lots and lots of people Saturday,” said Felisha Echols, organizer of the Black Families Festival of Love 2006, which will be celebrated on Saturday, February 4, and Saturday, February 18, at the Reese J. Booker Park on Whitehall Street.
More than a dozen vendors have signed up and more are needed now for the two-Saturday celebration of Black History month.
“We plan to celebrate Black History with a lot of fun, food, and entertainment from local and surrounding counties. We plan to have kids’ games, food, arts and crafts, and fellowship. All citizens of the area and surrounding areas are encouraged to bring their blankets and chairs, and camp out for the day to celebrate Black history,” Echols said.
Crafts, novelty, and food vendors need to apply for the February 18 date as soon as possible. Vendors will get a 10-by-10-foot space, but the booth rental is free.
Applications are available from the Chamber of Commerce office on The Square.
