New Beta Club members inducted
Twenty students were inducted as new members into the Washington-Wilkes Junior Beta Club during a special ceremony on January 26 at W-W Middle School. Those inducted were (front row, l-r) Mary Ellen Murphy, Brittany Guin, Whitney Branham, Amber Ellis, (middle row) Blake Connell, Josh Fair, Hannah McTier, Hannah Ward, Mallory Powell, (back) Will Souther, Hollie Huffman, Alaina Weber, Fallon West, Will Lawson, and Adam Hackney. New members not present for the picture included Michael Blakey, Iliana Colunga, Laura Heard, Michael Pharr, and Nicholas Reville. The National Junior Beta Club was founded in 1961 for academically outstanding students in grades five through nine. The club is a non-profit leadership-service club whose purpose is to encourage effort and reward merit, and to promote those qualities of character that make for good citizenship.
