Senior Citizens Center to make spring plans at Feb. 14 meeting

Spring planning begins at the Senior Citizens Center with the advisory council meeting on Feb. 14.

During this planning session, consideration will be made for establishing a Relay for Life team, scheduling a day trip, planning an Older Americans Day program, as well as other activities.

The annual black history program and several special Valentine celebrations are also on the calendar this month.

Several informative presentations have been made on the Medicare Prescription Drug Plans. Information is available for individual assistance. Interested persons should call the Senior Center for resource information.

The calendar for the month features the following activities. All activities take place at the Senior Center on Marshall Street unless otherwise indicated.

Mondays – Bingo, 10:45 a.m.

February 7 – Georgia Legal Services, 10 a.m.

February 9 – Pre-K Valentine Party, 9:30 a.m.

February 14 – Senior Citizens Advisory Council Meeting, 10 a.m. This is a monthly planning meeting open to all Wilkes County Senior Citizens and interested parties.

Valentine Party, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunch and entertainment. No charge. Reservations required by Friday, February 10. Call Diana Hall at 678-2518.

February 15 – Care South, blood pressure checks, 10 a.m. *Note: now scheduled monthly on Wednesdays.

Black History Program. Date and time to be announced.

Mondays and Thursday – Walking at 9:30 a.m., Parks and Recreation Center, upon request.

Tuesdays and Fridays – Craft sessions at 10 a.m. Upon request.

Contact Center Director Diana Hall at 678-2518 for general information or activity information. All persons age 60 or older are invited to attend Senior Center activities and to enjoy a hot lunch.
