Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rhodes attended the funeral of Hubert Paschall in Monticello on January 20. Those of you who attended Tignall High School may remember Mr. Paschall. He taught agriculture at the Tignall High School. He was Jasper County School Superintendent from 1973 until he retired in 1988. Before being named superintendent he taught agriculture in Jasper County. Sympathy is extended on behalf of all his former Tignall High School students to his wife Kathryn of Monticello; sons and daughter-in-law, L.H. “Hugh” Paschall Jr. of Eastman, and Carl E. and Cathy Paschall of St. Simons Island. Tignall Baptist Church Senior Adults will be having the annual Valentine Senior Luncheon on February 14. Joe Dabney, the Appalachian Mountain humorist, will be the guest speaker. The program will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the sanctuary followed by a meal in the Family Life Center. Anyone who is interested in joining them, call Pat Bobo at 285-2467. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bobo from McDonough visited Mr. and Mrs. Graydon Bobo for the weekend. They attended Mrs. Frances Duke’s funeral on Saturday. They also attended Tignall Baptist Church Sunday morning with Mike joining the choir. Last weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Layton Harris were greatgrandchildren, Jacob and Dylan Harris of Cleveland. Celebrating on Tuesday the birthday of Gloria Harris (which was Monday, January 23), were Gloria, Robbie Tanner, Tommie Heard, and Mary Will Denard. They enjoyed a “Girls Day Out” by going shopping in Athens and had lunch at the Picadilly. Visiting Tony Harris in Atlanta on Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Layton Harris and Derrick, and Laken Harris of Greenwood, S.C. This past weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Layton Harris were Traci and Aubree Harris, Mylec Scarboro, Taylor and Tristan Harris, all of Elberton. Mr. and Mrs. Gwinn Ware of Evans attended the funeral of Mrs. Frances Duke. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. George Dixon and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Keener. Over the weekend Mr. and Mrs. Jack Thomas of Franklin, N.C., visited with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wilson. The following birthdays were celebrated: Janet Aaron, Abby Aaron, Debbie McCord, and Margie Wilson. Mrs. Thomas cooked lasagna for the birthday celebration. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. Neal Wilson, Kirby and Keaton, and Lindley Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie McCord of Thomson visited Saturday afternoon and brought their granddaughter, Colby McCord, and Brad Hobbs. Sunday afternoon those visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wilson were Mary Will Denard, Patsy Epps, and Linda Denard. Mrs. Dixie Bradshaw of Orangeburg, S.C., and daughter, Johnna Keller of Atlanta, visited with Mrs. Hugh Keener. Carolyn Gammon was called to join them, since they had all been neighbors here in Tignall in the 1950s. They reminisced over the fun times they had in the neighborhood as children. Dixie is the daughter of Dick and Jean Heaton and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Yancy Heaton. They lived in the house that is beside the Kum Bak CafĂ©. Doris Merriweather called from New York to say she was so glad that the Tignall news is being reported again. She had missed it. She has two nieces who live in Tignall and they are Lunelle Walton and Mable Watts. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ware, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Ware and Stacy spent the weekend in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Jordan Tyler, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Tyler, won a gold medal in wrestling last weekend. He belongs to a wrestling team from Jefferson City Schools. The wrestling match took place in Kennesaw. Jordan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Tyler of Hochston.
