The ladies of the Lunch and Learn Club met Thursday, January 26, at the Rayle City Hall. The president, Peggy Echols, called the meeting to order and presided over it. Fran Thaxton read from Colossians 3:910, and a story, Life’s Lessons.

Silent prayer was held after which Mildred Sisson prayed the opening prayer. Shirley Chafin gave the treasurer’s report and Bonnie Boatwright gave the secretarial report. Cards were sent out to the sick and bereaved.

The business session was held and a discussion of future projects. Then everyone worked on their gingerbread men which had already been cut out and painted with a chocolate colored paint by Christine Wheatley. There was lace, ribbon, eyes, buttons, paint and glue and each lady turned out a beautiful gingerbread boy or girl using their imagination. Everyone of them turned out different and every one of them was real cute. The ladies really appreciated Christine cutting them out and tom Parker donating the wood. Everyone was proud of her creation. A lot of fun and laughthe ter rang out with joke telling and experiences shared.

When the crafts were finished, everyone enjoyed a delicious covered dish meal where everyone brought their favorite dishes. Steak and gravy, cocktail sausages, peas, butterbeans, green beans, sweet potatoes, cornbread, fruit salad, apple cake, peach cobbler, chocolate delight and many other delicious dishes were on the menu.

There were 11 members and two visitors present who were Peggy Echols, Christine Wheatley, Shirley Chafin, Fran Thaxton, Betty Winfrey, Ruth Flynt, Doris Smathers, Sudie Kennedy, Diane Tiller, Joyce Fry, and Bonnie Boatwright. Everyone enjoyed having Diane and Joyce visit.

The ones who were not there were missed and it is hoped that they will be back very soon.

Due to conflicts we had changed our meeting from Wednesday to Thursday for this meeting, but the next meeting will be at our regular meeting time on Wednesday, February 22, at 10 a.m. at Rayle City Hall.
