Funeral services for Emma Mae Davis Thurmond, 83, of Tignall will be held Thursday, February 2, 2006, at 2 p.m., at Hopkins Funeral Home, Washington, with Rev. Ficklen Guinn officiating. Burial will be at the Danburg Baptist Church Cemetery. She died Monday, January 30, at the Nancy Hart Nursing Home in Elbert County.

Mrs. Thurmond was a native of Oglethorpe County and had lived in Wilkes County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late James and Bertha Booth Davis and was the widow of William Thurmond. She was a retired seamstress and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Emma Anderson, Appling, and Betty Dunson, Tignall; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bennie and Rita Thurmond, Colesman, Fla., and William Thurmond Jr. and Mary Thurmond of Tignall.

Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
