Funeral services for Harry Smith Jr., 66, were held Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Tignall, with Rev. R.C. Lockhart officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He died Thursday, January 26.

Mr. Smith was the son of the late Clifford Smith and Ida Mae Bufford Smith. He was a member of the Clifford Grove Baptist Church and was a retired cement finisher. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and cooking.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie L. Smith; four children, Vernetta Jones and Larry Gresham of Athens, Alisas Lysandra Smith and Jeffrey Smith of Tignall; a brother, Larry Smith of Washington; two sisters, Juanita Norman, Tignall, and Bernice Wilkerson, Elberton; a step-sister, Lula Bell Allen, New Jersey; a step-brother, Linton Wise, Dayton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers included Clarence Watts, Tom W. Richardson, Charlie Watts, Robert Bell, Jessie Martin, and Mack Andrews.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
