Funeral services for Clinton Jefferson Stewart Jr., 76, of White Plains, were held Saturday, January 28, 2006, at the White Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Curtiss Moore officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. He died Wednesday, January 25, at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Stewart was a lifelong resident of Greene County. He was the son of the late Clinton Jefferson Stewart and Dorothy Ward Stewart. He had worked in the family dairy business and for Block and Weinstein’s. He had been employed by Greensboro Lumber Company and J.B. Dolvin’s Bay Service Station. He was a member of the White Plains Baptist Church. His firsts wife was he late Mary Sue Jackson Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Laura Jeanne Harper Stewart of White Plains; two daughters, Tanya Lloyd, Cumming, and Regina Echols of Jacksonville, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Libby Chapman, Union Point; two sons, Mark Stewart of Woodbine, and Kenneth Stewart of White Plains; two stepsons, George Stapleton of Blairsville, Edward Stapleton of Lakeland, Fla.; three sisters, Betty Ruth Grizzard, Thomaston, Dorothy Lou Rabun, Louisville, and Vivian Ledford, Young Harris; a brother, Wilburn Stewart, White Plains; 18 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren and stepgreat grandchildren.

Grandsons served as pallbearers and included Brian Stewart, Jeremy Stewart, Craig Stewart, Brent Stewart, Trey Echols, Richard Lloyd, Stephen Lloyd, Brandon Stapleton, and Nicholas Stapleton.
