Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ware celebrate Golden Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ware Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ware Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ware of Tignall were honored on the occasion of their Golden Wedding Anniversary at a reception on Saturday afternoon, January 14, at the Tignall Baptist Family Life Center. Hosts for the occasion were their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Ware.

Mr. and Mrs. Ware were married January 12, l956.

For the reception Mrs. Ware, the former Peggy Smallwood of Randolph County, Ala., wore a royal blue two-piece suit designed with a long skirt. A corsage of light pink miniature roses and a matching boutonniere were presented the couple by Mr. and Mrs. John Yochim.

As guests arrived, they signed the register tended by Mrs. Frankie Ware.

The Family Life Center was beautifully decorated for the occasion with large arrays of potted greenery borrowed from Mrs. Hugh Kenner. Tables about the room for guests’ seating were covered in white linen cloths and accented with gold overlays. Each was centered with a mirror reflecting cupid figurines and a lantern and candle.

The refreshment table was covered with white linen cloths with silver threads for the honoree’s 25th wedding anniversary and gold threads for their 50th celebration. Centering the table was a gold cloth accented with a cupid statue holding a basket of grapes. Gold candelabra were placed to each side of the statue as were bowls of fruit. A delicious assortment of party foods was enjoyed with punch and coffee.

Placed before a white lattice screen flanked with ficus trees was the round table centered with the anniversary cake. The cake was displayed atop white pedestals around a waterfall banked with greenery. The two-tiered cake featured a basket weave design and was topped with silk flowers and the numeral “50”. Yellow and white flowers with accents of greenery were used between the tiers. The table was covered in white with a gold accenting topper and white lace overlay.

The wedding cake was a gift from Mr. and Mrs. John Oglesby and family.

Mrs. Oglesby also catered the affair assisted by Mr. Oglesby.

Others assisting were Mrs. Thomas Albea, Yvonne Albea, Mrs. Frankie Ware, Mrs. Graydon Bobo, Mrs. Jason Dyson, Toni Roberson, Tom Callaway and Mrs. Karen Rogers.

Guests delighted in viewing photos of the couple and their family. These were arranged on a table also covered in white linen and accented with lace overlays of gold and silver. Centering the table was an arrangement of yellow and white flowers, a gift from Mrs. Frank Lamar.

One hundred guests attended during the afternoon.
