Ethan Armour, a member of the Wilkes County FFA, showed the grand champion steer at the 52nd annual Washington Area Steer and Heifer Show held Saturday, March 4, at the McGill-Woodruff Agricultural Center in Washington. William Garrard, also of the Wilkes County FFA, showed the reserve champion.

Kim Chandler, a member of the Madison County 4H Club, showed the supreme champion heifer with her Simmental champion. Tabitha Tench, a member of the Wilkes County FFA, showed the supreme reserve champion with her Commercial champion.

First place Showmanship awards went to Tyler Arnold, Madison County 4-H, grades 4-7; Kim Chandler, grades 8-9; Ethan Armour, grades 10-11; and Kyle Goldman, Wilkes County 4-H, twelfth grade.

The County Group of Five was awarded to Madison County; and the Breeder's Special went to the Rolling "T" Farm of Oglethorpe County. (More on page 9A)
