Pentecost Chapel will have a gospel singing and benefit soup supper Saturday, March 11, at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and hear some good singing and enjoy many different kinds of soup, sandwiches, cheese slices and desserts. The church is located on the Stevens Grove Road. Turn at Hogan's Store and go about two miles to the church. February birthdays are Martha Wells, 2; Amy McAvoy, 3; Fred Corbett and Nina Boatwright, 3; Taylor McAvoy, 5; Jennifer Hardy and Marcus Dill, 7; Judy Winfrey Nicholson and Geraldine Willis Dill, 9; Trey Berry, 10; Maddie Gunter, 14; Dorothy Callaway, 16; Rebekah Echols, 18; Carmen Boatwright, 20; and Mil Shedd, 30. Mrs. Martha Wells was honored with a party at the First Baptist Church in Washington Sunday afternoon for her 90th birthday which was Thursday, March 2. J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright attended the birthday party for Mrs. Martha Wells in Washington Sunday afternoon. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Billy Dawson who passed away Sunday. He had many friends who will miss him greatly. Fred and Ann Corbett enjoyed having these visitors over the past week: Elaine Mathews, Lawson Owen, Ruth Flynt, Dan and Beverly Corbett, Peggy Callaway, Nina Boatwright, Bonnie Boatwright, and Barry and Dana Echols. Spending Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith were Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Scoggin of Clinton, S.C.; Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Clark of Greenwood, S.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Troy Chafin. They brought lunch with them and they all enjoyed it together. Others visiting during the week were Charlie and Linda Arnold of Athens; and Bobby and Sandra Arnold of Winterville. Marshall and Mablean Sherrer and Keven and Jennifer Shelton attended the ham and egg supper at Burts Church Saturday evening. Rev. and Mrs. Donnie Berry, Mrs. Betty Berry, Mrs. Sybil Vaughn and little Bradley Berry enjoyed going to the ham and egg supper at Burts Church Saturday. Others who enjoyed the supper include J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright and David and Margie Randall and James Randall. Lucile Edmonds of Anderson, S.C., spent the day Thursday with her sister, Mablean Sherrer. She also visited her sister, Doris Walker, before returning to her home. Cliff and Janet Lewis, Ashton and Heyden of Athens visited Billy and Doris Walker Sunday afternoon. Bonnie Boatwright made her regular visit over to Bogart to spend the day with her sister, Martha Jones, Friday. They were joined by their sister, Frankie Jones of Athens, to have lunch at Chiles. Tucker and Brenda Vaughn of Martinez spent the weekend with Mrs. Annie Blanche Vaughn. Shirley Chafin and Terri Diaz went to the J&J Flea Market in Athens Saturday and later ate at Captain D's. Peggy Echols visited Mrs. Elvie Esco at Quiet Oaks Nursing Home in Crawford Sunday afternoon. She came back through Stephens and visited her sister, Sybil Hayes, and family. Troy and Shirley Chafin enjoyed going to Soap Creek Fish Lodge in Lincolnton for supper Thursday night. Buck and Linda Echols enjoyed having their children, Greg and Angela Armour, Samantha, Cody and Hunter, Will Callaway, Scott and Sissy Smith, J.T. and Abby, Hayden Cosby and Bailey Echols, Richard and Lou Heard, and Mattie with them for lunch Sunday. Troy and Shirley Chafin and Haley had a fish fry with all the trimmings Sunday at their house and invited Mack and Ronnie Chafin, Matt and Mandy Young, Alfredo and Terri Diaz, Wendy Harper and Evan, Willard and Dianna Queen, and Dallas and Eddie Huff, to eat with them. Mrs. Ann Wideman visited her mother, Mrs. Laura Hester, at Wilkes Health Care Sunday. She also visited Mrs. Mary Wright and Mrs. Dot Hardy. Visiting George and Ann during the week were Gene Winfrey, James, David, Mathew and Watson Wideman. Angie Paul of Lexington visited Johnny and Kathryn Shedd Sunday. Paul and Hannah Wright enjoyed having Sunday dinner with Tim and Gail Stewart. Alyssa spent the weekend at Rock Eagle with the 4H Club. Kim Berry and Aaliya visited Lamar and Kay Berry and Trey and Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson, Sunday afternoon. Bonnie Boatwright enjoyed visiting Mary Burt in Washington Thursday afternoon and Ruth Flynt Sunday afternoon. Bonnie Boatwright and Mrs. Martha Wells went to bingo at Wendy's Tuesday afternoon. Others there from our neck of the woods were Fran Thaxton and Marian Poss. J.W. and Kathleen Canup of Lexington were also there and a bunch of other bingo friends. Margaret Peterman is still a bit under the weather.
