Phillips Mill Bapist Women on Mission will meet Tuesday, March 14, at 1 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. All interested ladies are invited to take part. We could use some new input. Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Mary (Mrs. Guy) Wellmaker, 84, of Hephzibah Baptist Church who passed away Tuesday, February 28, at Wills Memorial Hospital. She was a Wellmaker and married a Wellmaker, a sister of Rev. O'Neil Martin's wife Jeanie. Among other survivors are a son, William Guy Wellmaker Jr.; four grandchildren, William Tuy III, Lisa Spears, Michell McCarley, Franklin Lewis Combs Jr., and his sister, Joyce (Mrs. Larry) Newberry; and seven great-grandchildren. Among the seven is little Jayden Newberry born January 30, son of Joyce and Larry. Franklin and Joyce's mother was the late Dianne Wellmaker, a daughter who died in 1992 at the dinner table. She married Franklin Lewis Combs, son of the late George and Aquilla Sherrer Combs of Union Point. The Wellmakers also had a son, Douglas, who has also passed away. Franklin Lewis Combs later married Barbara Simons Miller, a widow of Frank Miller of Phillips Mill. Priscilla Johnson Maxwell was among friends attending her funeral Friday afternoon at Hephzibah Church.
