Working to fight against litter

Beth Brown, Director of Communications for the Department of Natural Resources (right), and Sarah Visser, Education Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, spoke to the Washington Kiwanis Club about the Governor's Statewide Litter Initiative. They reported that $14 million is spent by the State's Department of Transportation for litter pick-up and disposal. They also reported that State House Bill 1320, the Litter Prevention and Abatement Act, has passed the House of Representatives and has been sent to the Senate for action. It was reported that Georgia has 69 affiliate chapters of "Keep America Beautiful", more than any other state. Wayne Madden (center) was program chairman for the day.
