Mallorysville has Men's Day service on Sunday, Mar. 12
Mallorysville Baptist Church observed Men's Day last Sunday. The men of the church were in charge of the service.
They had an all-men choir and singing a special was the trio, Rev. Donnie Berry, Curtis Harper, and Ralph Denard. They sang "Precious Memories" and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee."
Tony Hammond, chairman of the deacons, had a part in the children's sermon. His illustration was using turnip seeds and then giving each child a turnip with different sizes and shapes. He told them that we are like these turnip seeds, all different sizes and shapes. He said that if we plant these seeds in good ground the turnips grow healthy and that if the children come to church and study the Bible then they will become good Christian men and women. Tony then presented each child with a stuffed toy.
The children then had another speaker, Monty Browning. He used as his illustration, an army tank. He controlled it by remote control. He told the children that he controlled that tank just as God controls him. He told them they needed to let God control their lives.
Monty Browning then gave the sermon based on reading the Bible and tithing. He gives lectures and his testimony on his hunting trips wherever he goes.
Jamie Aaron and Derrick Thornton kept the nursery.
