Relay for Life seeks assistance in locating cancer survivors

The Wilkes County Relay for Life is seeking assistance in identifying and registering any cancer survivors so that they may be honored at this year's Relay on May 5.

"We are trying to compile a list of cancer survivors, any type, so that we can honor them at this year's walk," says Rev. Kathy Lamon, survivorship chairman. "Each year, Relay for Life begins with the recognition of all individuals who are survivors of this disease. In the second lap, we invite all caregivers and family members who have participated in this fight to walk with our survivors," she continued.

"All of these individuals deserve our respect for an ongoing journey to persevere and overcome cancer. Once it has touched a life it is never the same."

Survivors are given special shirts to wear at the walk that will identify them as survivors. There will also be a dinner in April to honor survivors and survivors need to be registered with the Relay so that an invitation to the event can be sent to them.

Forms can be picked up at the Regions Bank and mailed to Rev. Lamon at 113 West Sheraton Drive, Washington.
