Funeral services for Ruth Walton Cullars, 84, of Wilkes County were held Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Metasville Road, Washington, with Rev. Robert Walton and Pastor Charles Lacey officiating. She died March 3 in Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington.

Mrs. Cullars was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Tom Walton and the late Mattie Walton. She was a member of the Gibson Grove Baptist Church and was the widow of Robert Cullars. Survivors include five children, Charlie Cullars, Crawfordville, Mary Lou Turman, Augusta, Bessie Cullars, Washington, Louise Bennett, Augusta, and Annie Crew, Fort Valley; a stepson, Bobby Danner of Augusta; two sisters, Thelma Jackson, Washington, and Willie C. Jones, Detroit, Michigan; seven grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers included Wade Towns, Jermaine Brooks, Pharris Tutt, John Walton, Myron Bennett, Lawrence Stokes, and Brian Cullars.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
