21 4-H'ers participate in DPA; Newsome qualifies for state

Molly Newsome received first place honors and a trip to the 4H State Congress. Molly Newsome received first place honors and a trip to the 4H State Congress. Molly Newsome, Wilkes County Senior 4-H Club member, won first place with her History project at the Northeast District Project Achievement (DPA) competition held March 3-5 at Rock Eagle 4-H Center near Eatonton.

She will participate at the State 4H Congress in Atlanta in July where she will again present her demonstration and attempt to earn the honor of Master 4-H'er and win a trip to National 4-H Congress in Atlanta.

Twenty-one Wilkes County 4H'ers attended DPA where 39 counties were represented at this district event. More than 300 4-H'ers participated.

Brittany Klaus, a Senior 4-H'er, received second place in Performing Arts, Piano; and Senior 4-H'er Mariah Crew placed third in Conservation of Natural Resources.

Junior 4-H'er John Pope placed first in Safety; Chance Stickney, first in Food Fare; and Dixie Lee Trimm, first in Performing Arts, Vocal.

Second Place Juniors included Michael Edwards in Pizza; Raven Jenkins in Food Fare; and Shakelia Mahoney in Dairy Foods.

The 4-H program is the youth program of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service.
