Youth choir to present cantata Sunday at First Baptist Church
Sunday, March 26, is Youth Sunday at the First Baptist Church with several activities planned for the day.
The young people will be in charge of the morning worship service by making announcements, praying, serving as ushers, and in other ways.
The youth choir, Praz, will present an Easter cantata titled "The Way, The Truth, The Life" during the service which begins at 11 a.m.
The program will be directed by Patricia B. Burton, church music director. Soloists for the presentation will be Joseph Baldwin, Alyssa Stewart, and Bonnie Roth. Narrators of the text will be Jim Burton and Kay Nelms. Jane R. Newsome is accompanist.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6.) Dennis and Nan Allen, writers of the cantata, have taken these poignant words of Jesus and crafted a meaningful work around them in celebration of Easter.
From the triumphal "Prepare the Way" reminding of Jesus' path into Jerusalem to the concluding worship song, "You Are My King" (Amazing Love), listeners will be reminded of God's great sacrifice and His plan for their lives.
Following the morning service, the youth committee will host a family picnic with hamburgers, hotdogs, beans, chips, and desserts. The annual volleyball game will also take place.
