Tyrone News
Vacation Bible School directors of the Georgia Baptist Association, don't forget the directors meeting coming up Saturday, March 25, 10 a.m., at the Mission Center. Even if you feel you have your VBS plans intact, you might be surprised how helpful you might be in sharing ideas and experiences. Coming up the first week in April, Bethesda Baptist Church near Union Point is planning a series of revival meetings, beginning Sunday morning, April 2, and each night, Sunday through Friday, at 7 p.m. A different speaker will be featured at each service. The pastor of Phillips Mill Baptist Church, Rev. Robert Rayner, and Phillips Mill's choirs have been invited to be on the program Monday night. They welcome every one who would like to attend to do so. Hoping that each heart will be filled with the Holy Spirit and seeds planted that will grow and multiply. Rev. Jim Olds is pastor. Thanks to all who had a part in promoting the 24th annual talent show put on by the Kiwanis Club of Washington Friday night. Can't anyone say that they didn't get their money's worth. Oh! What wonderful talent shared. There were 25 on the program plus Washington Dance Academy performed during intermission. The youngest performer was Tyler Maxwell Scarborough, a third grader of Phillips Mill, singing first time on stage. He was second on the program and sang "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee." Each one received a certificate of appreciation for taking part. Tyler's family attending included his mother, Mary Jane; grandparents, Morrison and Priscilla; and "Uncle Lee," who came all the way from Atlanta; and friend Jason. Rev. Wade Palmer and his wife Ann of Tyrone were also present and wearing smiles, as several of his granddaughters performed sweetly. It was a good 21/2 hours long. Rev. Gale Seibert, pastor of the Washington First United Methodist Church, was master of ceremonies. The sound was by Debbie Anderson, and all others who assisted did a super job. We want to wish Mrs. Nancy Rayner, our pastor's wife at Phillips Mill, a happy birthday Saturday, March 25. There was a pretty floral arrangement of yellow roses Sunday in her honor at church. Visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Dan McAvoy and Jerry during the week and weekend were Tom Hardy, Henry and Faye McAvoy, Barbara McAvoy Wolters, Dorothy Ann Saxon, Mandy Whatley Reese, Hope and Megan, Priscilla Maxwell, and Tyler Scarborough. Their pastor, Rev. Robert Rayner, is good to stop by often. Mr. Dan's appetite seems to be improving and Miss Mildred is getting about better using her walker. Their maid, "Jerry," is still smiling and doing a good job. Pop calls are medicine. Priscilla Maxwell and Tyler enjoyed a pop call with Mrs. Mary Nell Denard Sunday afternoon. She is another one who appreciates friends and family visits. Remember, God loves you at all times. A stopped clock is right only twice a day. And ideas are like children - your own are wonderful.
