Lillie Mae Cox
Funeral services for Lillie Mae Cox, 78, of Washington were held Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Marks Tabernacle Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. Lance Pitts officiating. Interment was in City West Cemetery, Washington. She died Friday, March 10.
Mrs. Cox was born in Tucker and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Bolton. She joined Gibson Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Mother Board. She later joined Marks Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was employed by Johnson Builders Supplies and Fareway Building Supplies in Washington, and retired from Fareway.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Earl Cox; a daughter, Elizabeth Grant, Washington; four sons, Earl Cox Jr., and Willie Cox, Atlanta; Garnett Cox, McDonough, and Sammy Cox, Decatur; three sisters, Willie Lee, Newark, N.J., Louise Williams, Savannah, and Johnnie Mae Jenkins, Stone Mountain; 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Arthur Crew, Paul Davis, Huis Randall, Carlson Kenderick, Willie Jenkins, and R.C. Young.
Davenport-McLendon Mortuary of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
