Mr. and Mrs. William Wansley announce birth of daughter

Elizabeth Dunn Wansley Elizabeth Dunn Wansley William Dunn Wansley and Stevi Smith Wansley of Cobbham announce the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth Dunn Wansley, on Wednesday, January 4, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. Miss Elizabeth weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. and was 20 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Willard Smith and the late Elaine Gaye Griffith Smith of Piedmont, S.C. Maternal great-grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. William Harrison Griffith of Piedmont, S.C. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jess Willard Smith of Fayetteville, W.V.

Paternal grandparents are the late Louise Dunn Gibson Wansley and the late William Reuben Wansley of Thomson (formerly of Washington). Paternal great-grandparents are the late Dr. William Aaron Gibson, Jr. and Mrs. Louise Dunn Gibson of Thomson and the late Mr. Grady Woodfin Wansley and Mrs. Ruby Louise Ware Wansley of Tignall.

Elizabeth is a direct descendant of Rev. Daniel Marshall, the founder of the first Baptist Church in Ga., Kiokee Baptist Church in Appling. She is also a direct descendant of at least ten Revolutionary War soldiers and at least four Civil War soldiers. Among her ancestors are the Hills and Dunaways of Wilkes County. Miss Elizabeth and her parents live in "Alexandria" which was built in 1803-1805 and is believed to be the oldest documented brick house in Georgia. She is the ninth generation to live in our area.
