Alderman presents program on pottery to Kettle Creek NSDAR

Clint Alderman of Hartwell presented the program to members and guests of the Kettle Creek Chapter NSDAR at the luncheon meeting Monday, March 20, at the Woman's Club.

Mr. Alderman, introduced by Mrs. William Gunter, program chairman, is a potter who began making pottery when he was 14 years old. He has studied the history of Southern pottery and has more than 200 pieces of pottery. Mr. Alderman brought samples of his work for his presentation.

Prior to his program Mrs. Eugene Pollock, regent, presided.

Hostesses were Mrs. Wyatt Albea Jr., chairman; Mrs. William R. Butler, Mrs. Weems Pennington, Mrs. James L. Pinson, Mrs. Fred R. Prater and Mrs. James A. Rowland.

Mrs. Pollock welcomed visitors, Mrs. Millicent C. Arnold of Eatonton, Maxine Singleton of Watkinsville, Mrs. Gary Butts of Tignall, and Mrs. Thad Broome of Washington.

Mrs. John Keen read the National Defense Message and Mrs. Joe Roberson gave the American Indian Minute.

Mrs. Melvin P. Kopecky read a note of thanks from the Augusta Veterans Administration Hospital thanking the Chapter for its Christmas donation.

Mrs. Pollock reported that the SAR had sent the Chapter a Certificate of Appreciation for its contribution to the 227th Anniversary Celebration of the Battle of Kettle Creek.
