Beth Lannae and Russell Rainey feted at Lawn & Garden Shower

Beth Lannae and Russell Rainey of Evans were entertained at aCouples' Lawn and Garden Shower on Saturday evening, March 18, at the Woman's Club on North Alexander Avenue.

Hosts for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Ken Isham and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Denard of Washington, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Fowler of Statesboro, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hammond of Crawford, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hunt of Watkinsville, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Echols of Tignall, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Meister of Harlem, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Williamson of Thomson and Hillary Lindsey of Nashville, Tenn.

For the occasion Miss Lannae wore a blue top over chocolate pants pinstriped in blue. A denim jacket completed her ensemble. She was presented a corsage of fresh flowers and Mr. Rainey was presented a boutonniere.

The walkway to the clubhouse was lined with tiki torches. Containers potted with snapdragons, pansies and white geraniums flanked the door centered with a wreath accented with tools. Smilax was over the door.

Inside, guests were welcomed and invited to sign the register at a table which held a framed invitation and an antique watering can filled with an array of native spring flowers.

Spring was ushered in as spring flowers of white pear and redbud blossoms, camellias, forsythia, quince, daisies, azaleas and solidago were used about the room in decorating. The mantels held hurricanes and greenery with accents of paint cans filled with redbud and pear blossoms.

Tables for guests, covered in either navy or lime green, featured smaller watering cans of spring flowers while the main food table held a larger watering can of these blossoms with the addition of sunflowers.

Guests enjoyed a delicious buffet of heavy hors d'oeuvres and another table of decadent desserts.

The hosts presented the couple a wheelbarrow.

Thirty-six couples were invited. Special guests included the brideelect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Wells and Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Lannae of Washington; and her sister, Amy Lannae of Athens.

Out-of-town guests included John Broadnax and Andy Hunter of Athens, Gina Pauley of Daytona, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Jody Dowdy of Evans, Sasha Lance of Columbia, S.C., and Mary Ellen Lindsey of Charlotte, N.C.
