Mrs. Calvin Gunter Jr. spent Saturday, March 11 at Stone Mountain Park where her granddaughter, Emmeline Hale, sang a vocal solo for which she won a gold medal.

Emmeline, 11-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hale of Athens, also participated in five song and dance group routines with all selections being from Broadway musicals.

The annual event, held at the Evergreen Resort Convention Center, was sponsored by "Access Broadway".

A number of area studios participated and Oconee Youth Playhouse where Emmeline studies won "Best Overall Studio."
