Young Tigers win three more games

The Washington-Wilkes Tiger Middle School baseball team played a great couple of games on Saturday, March 18. They defeated Putnam 10-2, and then defeated Thomson 4-3.

Trent Martin got the win against Putnam going four innings, giving up two runs, and striking out eight. Chase Shelton came on in relief in the fifth to pitch a scoreless inning, striking out one. Matson Keiser, D.J. Barnett, Jacob Davis, Greg Callaway, Zack Murray, Trent Martin, Derrik Ferris, Tom Saggus, and Ryan Scarborough all had hits in the win.

Barnett picked up the win against Thomson giving up three runs on four hits and striking out six over five innings. Graham Echols, Matson Keiser, DJ Barnett, Jacob Davis, Greg Callaway, Trent Martin, and Zach Murray all had hits in the win.

The Tigers faced the Crescent Tigers on Wednesday, March 22, but results were not known as of press time for this issue. On Saturday, March 25, the team will travel to Madison County for a double header.

The young Tigers defeated the Lincoln County Red Devils 3-2 on Wednesday, March 15.

Greg Callaway pitched one scoreless inning with two strikeouts. Trent Martin pitched four scoreless innings striking out nine batters. D.J. Barnett pitched one inning giving up two runs striking out two. Martin recorded the win and Barnett recorded the save.

Barnett, Jacob Davis, and Martin all had hits in the win. Teverrius Jones, Davis, and Derrik Ferris scored the three runs.
