Seven members of the Rayle Lunch and Learn Club met at the Rayle City Hall for a trip to Athens to the Peking Chinese Restaurant Wednesday for lunch. Peggy Echols, Doris Smathers, Sudie Kennedy, Ann Williamson, Shirley Chafin, Fran Thaxton and Bonnie Boatwright met at the City Hall and went in two cars driven by Shirley Chafin and Doris Smathers. Everyone had a good time and enjoyed the food. They enjoyed seeing Mary Bowick and Michelle Porterfield of Washington-Wilkes who were celebrating their recent birthdays sitting at the table next to them. Bonnie Boatwright spent Thursday with Martha Jones in Bogart. At lunch Martha and Bonnie went to the Cracker Barrel for lunch. That evening they went to Logan's Roadhouse restaurant for supper. They were joined by Frankie Jones and Mary Jean Smith of Athens, James and Sharon Smith of Stephens, and Lois Smith of Seattle, Washington, who was spending a week with her parents, James and Sharon. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of M.L. Langford who died last Monday. He and his family were residents of Rayle for many years before moving to Washington. He had many friends here who will miss him. Pete Poss is out of the hospital and is feeling much better. Our prayers are with him for a good recovery. Ruth Flynt enjoyed a visit from Brian and Madge Bailey last Sunday evening. Our prayer list includes Ann Corbett, Sharon Smith, Richard Davis, Kathryn Padgett, Pete Poss, Tommy Jackson, Gary Rogers, Mary Stewart, Amy Frey, Annette Hughes, Seba Williamson, Dorothy Callaway, and all the sick and bereaved. Visiting Mrs. Annie Blanche Vaughn were Jean McDonald of Rome; Mr. and Mrs. Clarke Davie and Oliver of Marietta; Penny Vaughn and Lena Lane of Augusta. Mrs. Doris Walker and Mrs. Beatrice Sherrer enjoyed riding over to Danburg to a nursery one day. They enjoyed all the flowers and plants. Fred and Ann Corbett's visitors have been J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright, Ruth Flynt, Dan and Beverly Corbett, Richard and Betty Byrd, Elaine Mathews, Nina Boatwright, Penny Callaway, Perry Davis and Peggy Callaway. Please keep Ann and Fred in your thoughts and prayers. Chris Armour was treated to a supper for his birthday Sunday at the home of Bobby and Debra Armour. Heather Armour, Amber, Rebecca and Raeleigh also helped him celebrate. Spending the weekend with Mrs. Ruby Arnold was Faye Johnson of Gray. On Saturday, Ruby, Faye, Ruby Nell Booth, Kristy Booth, Kim and Aaliya Berry, and Dorothy Callaway went to Crystal Booth's home in Watkinsville for a cookout with other friends. Charlie and Linda Arnold f Athens; Bobby and Sandra Arnold of Winterville; and Jimmy Arnold of Lexington visited Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith during the week. Ann Wideman visited one day and Mrs. Ann Williamson also visited. Ralph and Elizabeth joined Wilda Boatwright for a trip to Watkinsville to see their sister, Annette Hughes, Saturday. Mrs. Ruby Arnold visited Kay Berry, Brooke Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson, Sunday afternoon. Mil Shedd was honored on his ninth birthday which is March 30 with a party Sunday by his parents, Rodney and Betsy Shedd, at their home on Walker Road. Relatives and friends came for the celebration. Rev. Clarence Cannon was guest speaker at Sardis Baptist Church Sunday in the absence of Rev. John Mark Carpenter. Rev. and Mrs. Cannon enjoyed Sunday dinner with Tracy and Denise Armour and family. Everyone at Beaverdam Baptist Church is proud of the new green metal roof on the church. A sunrise Easter service will be held Sunday, April 16, at 7 a.m., with breakfast following in the Barrett Fellowship Hall. Everyone is invited to attend this and all services. Rev. Jim Edwards is pastor. Troy and Shirley Chafin were in Athens one day and enjoyed eating at the Red Lobster. They also enjoyed eating at Watchmaker's in the Fitzpatrick Hotel one day. Kim Frankel, Zachery and Kyle, of Crawford had Sunday dinner with Clyde and Sandy Whittington. They visited Boyce and Pam Hall and family Sunday afternoon. Spending the day Saturday with Troy and Shirley Chafin were Mack Chafin, Ronnie Chafin, Tommy Fong, and Kenny Prak. Blake Arnold spent the weekend with his grandparents, Troy and Shirley Chafin. He bagged a turkey on the first day of the season and grandma Shirley cooked it with dressing and giblet gravy and all the trimmings for Sunday evening supper. Enjoying the meal with Troy, Shirley and Blake were Sheila Arnold, Ronnie Chafin, Mandy Young, Alfredo and Terri Diaz, Antonio Diaz, Willard and Dianna Queen, and Dallas. Mrs. Sudie Kennedy visited Mrs. Rubye Armour one day during the week. Joyce and Stephanie Bowen also visited one day. Thomas and Christine Wheatley went to Augusta Monday for Thomas' doctor's appointment. Last Tuesday afternoon, Bonnie Boatwright and Martha Wells went to bingo at Wendy's. Others from our neck of the woods coming were Fran Thaxton, Peggy Echols, Troy and Shirley Chafin, and Margie Randall. J.W. and Kathleen Canup came from Lexington along with many others from around. Bonnie Boatwright enjoyed visiting Ruth Flynt Monday afternoon and again Sunday afternoon. Wednesday afternoon Bonnie visited Sybil Vaughn and enjoyed seeing Lila and Bradley who had come over to Sybil's. Dylan Armour spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Armour, Justin, Ethan and Jackson. George and Ann Wideman celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday and were treated out to Ryan's in Athens by James. They visited Rev. and Mrs. Ken Bowers who have moved to Harlem. Visiting the Widemans during the week were Tom Hardy, James, David and Mathew Wideman, David Randall, Margie Randall, and Jo Randall of Washington went to Thomson where they had a wonderful dinner with the Heritage Club at White Columns. They enjoyed a speaker on landscaping and gardening. Door prizes were given and Jo won one of them which was a beautiful flower. Buzzy was a bit under the weather and did not get to go. Joe Jones, my sister Frankie's husband, was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Athens by ambulance Sunday and was thought to have had a stroke. Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Armour, Justin, Ethan, and Jackson; Audra Chapman and Dylan Armour went to Talmo Ranch in Talmo, Ga., Saturday night to attend the Source Sale. Carl Sisson Jr. of Madison, Ala., spent the weekend with his mother, Mildred Sisson, and enjoyed turkey hunting while his wife visited her parents in Monroe. Mildred and Carl enjoyed supper Saturday with the Richard McAvoys. Sunday, Carl hosted supper and joining him and his mother were Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Wheatley, Mr. and Mrs. Richard McAvoy, and Amy, and Chris McAvoy. My, oh my! Winter has returned and my pretty purple tulip tree is now brown. It always seems colder than ever after you've had warm weather and then it turns cold again. Rev. and Mrs. Clarence Cannon Gainesville; Audra Chapman, Kaylee Goldman, and Dylan Armour were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Armour, Justin, Ethan and Jackson on Sunday. On Sunday afternoon, Tracy and Denise Armour, Ethan and Jackson, went to visit Scott and Angie Wheatley in Banks County. Other family members joining them were Manuel Wheatley, Jim and Elaine Wheatley, Jonathon Wheatley, April Smith, Danny and Traci Bussey, Brett and Ashleigh.
