Bethesda Baptist Church in Greene County near Union Point, off Highway 44, will be having a series of revival services beginning Sunday morning, April 2, at 11 a.m., and continuing each night, Sunday through Friday, at 7 p.m. with different speakers each time. Sunday morning, Rev. James Bland, who has served the Georgia Baptist Association as Director of Missions for eight years in May, will speak. Sunday night, Rev. David Jordan, pastor of Penfield Baptist Church will be the speaker; Monday night, Rev. Robert Rayner, pastor of Phillips Mill Baptist; Tuesday night, Rev. Farrett Boswell, pastor of Woodville Baptist; Wednesday, Rev. Curtis Moore, pastor of White Plains Baptist; Thursday night, Rev. John McMillian, pastor of Bairds; and Friday, Rev. Mike Hardy, pastor of First Baptist, Greensboro, will bring the services to a close, hopefully planting more seeds for the Lord and encouraging all to be workers of the harvest. There will also be special music during each service that will bless your heart. I hope to see some of you there at least one night with your Bible in hand, a song in your heart, and a smile on your face, expecting a blessing; and to be a blessing for the Lord. Revival needs to start in each of our hearts of all ages, all walks of life, all communities. May each of us be in prayer for all revivals coming up. Rev. Jim Olds is pastor at Bethesda. Phillips Mill Baptist Church plans to start back having a covered dish meal on the first Wednesday night each month, beginning next week. So bring your favorite covered dish this Wednesday night, April 5. Remember, children will be on spring break. Time is 6:15. Bible study is at 7 p.m. Thanks to all Vacation Bible School directors who attended and took part in the Bible School meeting for directors at the Georgia Baptist Mission Center in Washington Saturday morning. The theme for VBS 2006 is "Life Ways Arctic Edge, where adventure meets courage." Joshua 1:9. Phillips Mill still needs workers. Please contact Charlotte Waller if you are able and willing. Charlotte is taking orders for VBS T-shirts. The deadline is Sunday, April 9, for children, youth, and adults. Pay as you order. The Georgia Baptist Association 16th Annual Spring Inspirational Meeting will be held with Macedonia Baptist Church out from Maxeys on the Union Point to Lexington Highway. I believe Maxeys is still in Greene County or mighty close by. That's Tuesday evening, April 25, at 7 p.m. Don't forget to elect messengers from your church and get them turned in at the Mission Center before time. On Wednesday, March 22, Bob and Betty Anne West went to Macon to the Cherry Festival and to visit Bob's cousin, Julian Johnson, and wife Nancy from Jonus Ridge, North Carolina, at the home of John and Kelly Johnson. While there Betty Anne and Nancy enjoyed shopping in Macon. Later in the evening the Johnsons carried them out for a steak dinner. After dinner they returned to John and Kelly's home for dessert. Bob and Julian are great-grandchildren of the late William King Johnson and Fannie Lyle Johnson of Phillips Mill Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson was among men who helped raise money to build our present church building, which was built in 1907. The church was founded in 1785. Visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Dan McAvoy and Jerry McAvoy during the week and weekend were Billy McAvoy, Warren and Lois Nunn, Jean Gunter, Rev. Robert Rayner, Curtis McAvoy, Dorothy Ann Saxon, and grandchildren, Kala, Brent and Candice. Mrs. Mary Nell Denard enjoyed visitors, Margaret Edwards, Eunice Mansfield, Priscilla Maxwell, and children, Cloyd and Brenda, during the week.
