The Awana group of Tignall Baptist church had its Grand Prix racing competition on Sunday, March 26.

Everyone, from grandparents, parents, to children, really got into the race and adults cheered as loudly as did the children.

Before the race began they said the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag and then to the Awana flag. Kenny Long gave a devotion that fit the occasion.

These children made little race cars and painted them with the help of parents or grandparents. There were 47 race cars in the competition.

Some had really unusual designs. One was made into a bus and that was one fast bus.

The winners were as follows:

Cubbies - Breanna Wright, first place; Ethan Fain, second place; and Kylie Weaver, third place.

Sparks - Jennifer Bruce, first; Elizabeth McLeroy, second; and Ryan Long, third.

T & T - Cody McLeroy, first; Destini Long, second; and Hunter Smith, third.

Dusty Robinson was the overall design winner; and Cody McLeroy has the fastest time.

The Awana leaders couldn't let the kids have all the fun, so they made cars and had a racing competition, too. The winner was Stacy Long.

Before the competition, the youth sold hotdog plates for lunch. It was a fun day for all ages.
