The entire student body of Washington-Wilkes Elementary School turned out for a surprise in honor of Vernilla Clark, accompanied by her son and grandson, to plant a tree at the school in her honor. Principal Wanda Jenkins told the long-time secretary, "You're the lifeblood of this school, and I don't know what we'll do without you."
