The Lord's Supper will be observed prior to the choral and drama presentation.

The cantata begins with a soprano introduction, followed by a movement for each word of Christ from the cross. At the end of the seventh word, Dubois concludes his sacred cantata with the serene hymn, "Christ, We Do All Adore Thee," much like a chorale at the end of an 18th century cantata provides the listener with a foretaste of the Resurrection after the compelling drama of the Passion story.

The music will be directed by Patricia B. Burton and accompanied by Jane R. Newsome, organist; and Peyson Moss, pianist. Joseph Baldwin is the director of the drama.

Soloists will be Les Reagan, tenor; Tom Duggan, baritone; Shirley Gunter and Kari Callaway, sopranos; Jim Burton, Baritone; and Tom Wells, tenor.

Emilie Waters is costume mistress; and Sherree Bufford and Chris Townsend, production assistants.

Theodore Dubois composed "The Seven Last Words of Christ" in 1867 for Saint Clotilde in Paris where he was the choir director. He scored the work for full orchestra, chorus, and soloists, but later revised his orchestration to include only organ, timpani and Harp.

Dr. Charles Strickland, interim pastor of the church, extends an invitation on behalf of the church to the whole community to attend this program.

A nursery will be provided.
