C.B. Bankston
Funeral services for C.B. Bankston, 94, of Rayle, were held Saturday, April 1, 2006, at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, with Rev. Robert Crawford and Rev. James McIver officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. He died Monday, March 27.
Mr. Bankston was a native of Wilkes County and was the son of the late Silas and Alice Bankston. His wife was the late Mamie Lou Mathis Bankston. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include 11 children, Emmanuel Almond, Rayle, Alfonso Bankston, East Point, Marion Bankston, College Park, Nancy Haygood, Athens, Thomas Bankston, Rex, Reba Ball, Philadelphia, Penn., Mary Ann Shank and Elnora Crawford, Washington, Alvin Bankston, Jonesboro, Lila Bankston, Snellville, and Vernon Bankston, Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Carolyn Turner, Augusta; a god-daughter, Delores Hall, Rayle; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Silas Bankston, Keidric Hall, James Jackson, Dyon Crawford, Eddie Hull Jr., Ritchie Shank, and MaHamad Ball.
Davenport-McLendon Mortuary of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
