Graveside services for Eleanor Harris Barnett Dawkins of Elberton were held Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Elmhurst Cemetery, Elberton, with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. She died Sunday, April 2.

Mrs. Dawkins was a native of Lincoln County but had lived most of her life in Wilkes County. She was the daughter of the late Harris Carswell Barnett and Elizabeth Cox Barnett. She was a lifelong member of the Danburg Baptist Church where she served as a pianist, Sunday School leader, teacher, and Training Union leader. She worked at Blackmons Department Store in Washington and retired from the store. She had lived in Elberton for the past 30 years.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Francia D. Cofer of Elberton and Patsy and Marvin P. Rathbone of Elberton; four grandchildren, Dixie C. Watkins, Brasselton, Cindy C. Rogers, Elberton, Angela B. Vickery, Gainesville, and Presly Blakey, Washington; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Kevin Clary, Brandon Clary, Charles Clary, George Bond Jr., Jimmy Blackmon, and Roger McCannon.

Berry Funeral Home of Elberton was in charge of arrangements.
