Learning in Retirement to hear about developments in India

DR. BAL JOSHI DR. BAL JOSHI Washington-Wilkes Learning In Retirement will sponsor a series of lectures about India on April 10, 17, and 24, at the Parish House of the Church of the Mediator. The lectures will begin at 2 p.m. and visitors are welcomed.

Lecturer for the series is Dr. Bal Joshi, a native of India and a United States citizen since the early 1980s. Dr. Joshi will report on developments in economic and various other institutions in India. He will include a review of the rich history of his native country, to its independence from Britain in 1947, describing various religious practices, the arts and architecture, as well as social and political developments during India's rise to world power status.

After receiving his PhD in chemical technology at the University of Bombay, Dr. Joshi earned a PhD and ScD from Cambridge University in 1955 and 1981 respectively. Since 1982, he has worked at the Institute for Natural Products Research at the University of Georgia, retiring in 2000.
