TO THE EDITOR:

This is in praise of Gloria Wheatley, who manages our Animal Shelter.

As one who has all she can do being the slave of one domineering cat, I am in awe of how well she manages. She knows and seems to respect each dog and cat, caring for them while keeping them under control.

I was there to walk a couple of easily-managed dogs, which is a useful exercise for them and me. Gloria said that she could use other dog-walkers. She even has a few "geriatric" dogs for those who do not want to move very rapidly. If anyone has an interest in dog-bathing, she will make that possible, also.

There are numerous puppies at the Shelter now, and puppy food would be a nice gift.

This community is fortunate in many ways; among them is having Gloria at the Shelter.
