The annual Wilsbary's May Fest sponsored by the Friends of the Mary Willis Library will be held Friday, May 5, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., on the lawn of the library.

Friends of the Mary Willis Library will meet May 11, 3 p.m., in the library meeting room. The speaker will be Craig Amason, Executive Director of the Flannery O'Connor-Andalusia Foundation Inc.

The Georgia Sheriffs Association, U.S. Rider News, Harris Custom Cycles, and Flames of Steel will give away a "New Sheriff" 2006 Custom Bike to a lucky ticket holder on November 4. Tickets are $2.00 each or 15 for $20.00 and may be purchased at the Wilkes County Sheriff's Department, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Funds raised will benefit the Georgia Sheriffs Association, sponsors of the Georgia Sheriffs Youth Homes. The bike will be given away at the "Toys for Boys" Bike Ride in Swainsboro. You do not have to be present to win and must be 18 years of age or older to win.

Tickets are being sold for a chance to win a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee on June 30. Proceeds will benefit the family of the late Eydee McClain. Tickets are $20 each and may be purchased at Fievet Pharmacy in Washington. A minimum of 200 tickets must be sold or the raffle will be delayed.

The Lincoln Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet Thursday, May 11, 11 a.m., at the 1810 Country Inn & Winery in Thomson. The North Wilkes Steering Committee is sponsoring a community yard sale and bake sale on Saturday, May 13, at the old Tignall School grounds. Set-up time for the yard sale is 8 a.m. Cost is $5 for a space. The steering committee is having the bake sale which begins at 9 a.m. The event is cancelled if there is rain.
