Thanks to all who contributed
TO THE EDITOR:
On behalf of Washington-Wilkes Elementary School, I would like to extend our appreciation to several local community businesses and their representatives that came out to our first annual Career Day. Because of these fine people, our career day was a huge success. The volunteer speakers prepared very informative presentations for our Pre-K, fourth, and fifth grade students.
They also gave handouts, packets, and other goodies for the boys and girls to add to their handmade briefcases given to each class.
A personal thank you goes to the following individuals for volunteering their time during this event: Washington Fire Department: Tim
Wright and David Wilson; Pioneer: Rick Callaway and Matt Morton; Purple Palette: Mr. & Mrs. James Trimm; The Garden Party: Carol McTier; Wilkes Telephone Company: Billy Caddell and Jason Crook; Washington Police Department: Captain Glenn, Lieutenant Roca, Lieutenant Nelson, and Officer Tanksley; Young Farmers: Eric Holton, Kyle Brown, Rory Richardson, and Rick Smith; Wilkes County EMS: Blake Thompson, Director; Fran Fortson, EMT REN, and Officer Jennings; E-Clips: Paula Stevens and Mallory Waller; Rayle EMC: Jeff Paul, Tony Griffin, and Larry Chapman; Heather Hammond (photography), and Nora Dukes (musician).
