W-WCHS students recognized for academic achievement
Brandon Echols (right) accepts the Principal's Award from W-WCHS Principal Andrew Jackson during Honors Day ceremonies at the high school May 2. Honors Day was held at Washington Wilkes Comprehensive High School on Tuesday, May 2, and many students were recognized for their academic achievement during the 2005-2006 school year. Also, the senior class was featured, sitting apart from the rest of the student body, wearing their caps and gowns for the first time.
Principal Andrew Jackson conducted the proceedings which began with words of inspiration by Senior Class President Casey Nickels. He told of the importance of persistence in following your dreams and encouraged his classmates never to give up when things get tough.
Awards and certificates were presented to students who made the honor roll for one, two, and three nine-weeks grading periods, and departmental awards were handed out as follows:
Business and Information Processing: Yearbook Award, Morgan Lamon; Business Award, Rashawn Raiford.
Family and Consumer Sciences: Student of the Year Award, Victoria Clark.
