Lamar named Woman of the Year by Xi Delta Tau, Beta Sigma Phi
New officers of the Xi Delta Tau Chapter are (seated left to right) Leslie McAvoy, Gretchen Lamar, Jennifer Walker; (standing) Susan Pope, Debra Guin and Mary Katherine Dyson. Gretchen Lamar was named Woman of the Year at the Xi Delta Tau Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, Founder's Day celebration and meeting at the Washington Jockey Club on Monday, April 24.
Mrs. Lamar was presented a yellow rose by outgoing president, Donna Bennett.
Mrs. Lamar was also installed as new president. Other new officers for the coming year are Leslie McAvoy, vice-president; Jennifer Jackson, recording secretary; Mary Katherine Dyson, corresponding secretary; Debra Guin, treasurer; and Susan Pope, extension officer. Outgoing officers presented the incoming slate their duties.
Prior to the presentation and the installation, members recited the opening ritual and the Beta Sigma Phi grace.
Members enjoyed a dinner of choice.
After dinner the Founder's Day Pledge was read by Kim Winfrey and the message from international was read by Mrs. Lamar.
At the close of the ceremony all members stood and repeated the Beta Sigma Phi closing ritual.
