After more than a week of rest, the Washington-Wilkes Tiger baseball team will get back in gear as it enters the first round of the Georgia state playoffs for Class A this Friday. As fourth-place finishers in Region 7-A, the Tigers will be paired against the No. 1 team from Region 8-A, Prince Avenue Christian of Athens.

The battle for first place in Region 8-A was down to the wire last Saturday when PA went up against Social Circle for the title and ended up handily on top by a lopsided score of 11-1.

This Friday, May 12, beginning at 5 p.m., the Tigers will face Prince Avenue in a doubleheader in near Athens as the first of a two-out-ofthree series. If a third game is needed, it will be played on Saturday, May 13, at 3 p.m.

Kevin Stasyshyn is scheduled to pitch the first game for the Tigers with ace Demont Gresham being held in reserve for game two of the doubleheader.

Head Coach Rob Jackson has supplied the following directions for getting to the Prince Avenue Christian School baseball field.

In Athens take loop 10 towards the mall. Exit on Hwy. 316/Hwy. 78 (the Home Depot exit) and turn left on Hwy. 316. Exit off of Hwy. 316 onto Hwy. 78 west towards Monroe. Travel 2.2 miles to Ruth Jackson Road and turn left on Ruth Jackson (note: take second Ruth Jackson Rd. across from Pete Dickens Rd.). The Prince Avenue Christian School athletic fields are immediately on the right.
