NBA students enjoy exhibition game at Primary School May 4
Para-pros Gwen Gresham and Tesi Standard trap High school player Delvechio Wilburn during last weeks W-WPS NBA game. Washington-Wilkes Primary School NBA (Never Been Absent) students enjoyed their exihibition game last Thursday, May 4. Students with perfect attendance for the last six weeks enjoyed a special basketball game when high school players took on kindergarten para-professionals (a.k.a the "Bare (barefooted) Paras!").
After the game members enjoyed ice cream donated by Bi-Lo supermarket. Thanks were expressed to the following for making the NBA game a success: Coach Jackson Calhoun, and high school players Kelmetrius Wylie, Delveccio Wilburn, Khiry Tutt, Scott Checki, An
gel Acree, Keiundria Blackmon, and Chiquita Turner; Steve Crandle from Bi-lo; and The "Bare Paras" Dean Sisson, Tesi Standard, Gretta Crosby, Jennette Dunn, Jeannie Ferrell, and Gwen Gresham.
W-WPS Counselor Fiona Calhoun is thrilled at how well this attendance incentive program has been recevied. Since she started the program in January, she noted that "Students and parents have really made an effort to cut back on avoidable absences and tardies/early dismissals. I plan on continuing the program next year with new and exciting incentives for members," she said.
