Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will celebrate its 105th anniversary on Sunday, May 28, 2:30 p.m. Rev. Ben K. Willis and the Billups Grove Baptist Church of Athens will be the guests for the day.

Cherry Grove Baptist Church will have its annual deacon board fellowship program Sunday, May 28, 4 p.m., with Rev. Joe Glaze bringing the message.

Tickets are being sold for a chance to win a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee on June 30. Proceeds will benefit the family of the late Eydee McClain. Tickets are $20 each and may be purchased at Fievet Pharmacy in Washington. A minimum of 200 tickets must be sold or the raffle will be delayed.

The Washington-Wilkes Learning In Retirement (LIR) session on "Improving Your Photography - Principles and Practice," with Heather Hammond as the instructor, will be held Monday, May 22, at the Adult Learning Center in the old Wilkes Village shopping center behind McDonalds.

The Greater Level Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1379 Sandy Cross Road, Crawfordville, will sponsor the "100 Men in Black or White Celebration" at the church on Sunday, May 28, at 4 p.m. Pastor Tracy Wheeler will be preaching and the Greater Springfield Missionary Baptist Church Male Choir of Atlanta will be singing.

The Class of 1971 will meet at the home of Brenda Ferrell on Saturday, May 20, 6 p.m. All class members are urged to attend.

The New Salem Baptist Church will celebrate the 134th anniversary of the church on Sunday, May 28, 3 p.m. The guest minister will be Pastor Reginald Hunter of New Springhill Baptist Church, Philomath.

New Saints CME Church, 515 Baltimore Road, Washington, will have the May SNAP meeting on Saturday, May 20.

Pompey's Chapel Baptist Church will celebrate its 136th anniversary Sunday, May 28, 11:30 a.m. Dinner will be served.

The Wilkes County Board of Registrars meeting scheduled for May 10 in Room 323, Wilkes County Courthouse, at 10 a.m., has been re-scheduled for May 25. The time and location remain the same.

Bethlehem Baptist Church will celebrate its 113th anniversary Sunday, May 21, 11:30 a.m., with Rev. R.C. Lockhart as the speaker.

The First United Methodist Church of Washington will have Vacation Bible School June 18-22, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Children three years old throughchildren who have just completed the fifth grade. Theme for the week is "Adventure of the Treasure Seekers: Exploring God's Promises."

New Ford Baptist Church at Danburg will celebrate its 136th anniversary Sunday, May 21, 11:15 a.m. Dinner will be served in the church fellowship hall following the service.

There will be a chicken barbecue and auction to benefit the Good Ole Summertime Tent Crusade/ Revival IX Saturday, May 20, at the Tignall Pavilion and Gym. The barbecue will be from 4 to 5:45 p.m., with the auction starting at 6 p.m.

White Rock Baptist Church, Lincolnton, will have spring revival services May 22-24, 7:30 p.m. Each night will feature a different minister. These are: Monday, Rev. Fred Perriman, pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Lincolnton; Tuesday, Rev. Willie J. White, pastor, Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, Lincolnton; and Wednesday, Rev. The Church of the Lord Jesus, Union Point, will have its annual men's day program on Sunday, May 21, 1:30 p.m. The speaker will be Minister Steve Ivy, Rocky Branch in Warrenton.

Vacation Bible School will be held at New Salem Baptist Church June 12-16, 7:30 p.m. There will be classes for all ages.

The Philomath Church Preservation Association is sponsoring a barbecue fund-raiser Saturday, May 20, 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Buckman Barn, 2362 Crawfordville Rd., Philomath. Proceeds will go toward restoration of the church. Donations are $7 and tickets can be obtained at the Chamber of Commerce, Fitzpatrick Hotel, J.M. Sherrer's Store, and Mari-Ann's Hair Styles.

The Civil War Round Table of Washington will meet Monday, May 22, at Watchmaker's in the Fitzpatrick Hotel at 6 p.m., with dinner for $10 per person. Greg Biggs from Tennessee will be speaking on "Tactical Perfection: Forrest at Brice's Crossroads."

The Reese J. Booker and Rosa Grant Warthen Scholarship Fund-raising Program will be held Sunday, May 28, 6 p.m., at Marks Tabernacle Baptist Church.

The Washington City Council will meet Monday, June 12, 7:30 p.m., at the Pope Community Center on Lexington Avenue.

The Raytown Baptist Church will have revival services beginning Thursday, May 18, and continuing through Sunday, May 21. Rev. Donnie Walton will be the speaker. Supper will be served at 6 p.m., and the services will begin at 7 p.m.
