'Snakes Alive' set for Tuesday, May 23 at Mary Willis Library

In conjunction with the "Once Upon a Time . . ." vacation reading program at the Mary Willis Library, the popular "Let's Get Wild: Snakes Alive!" program with naturalist Steve Scruggs will be presented Tuesday, May 23, at 2 p.m.

The Pope Meeting Room of the library will be a slithering, quivering mass of reptiles for a time while Scruggs teaches children how to identify snakes, dispels myths, and explains about their habitat. This is a great opportunity to observe snakes and to gain an understanding of these creatures in a controlled environment.

The "Let's Get Wild" program was founded in 1996 by naturalist Scruggs. Based in Watkinsville, the program's goal is to teach children about man's role in managing America's wildlife.

The program presented at the library is made possible by gifts from the Washington Kiwanis Club and Chip Hardin, Attorney at Law.
