The University of Georgia Master of Historic Preservation students have completed a building survey for the Philomath Church Preservation Association (PCPA). Included in the report were survey documents; a study of the structure of the building; and recommendations on all phases of the restoration.

A contract has been let to James Askins to level the building and begin structural repairs. Local residents have removed the two stained glass windows in front of the church in preparation for the leveling process. The windows will be repaired while they are out of the building.

The PCPA is planning a barbecue fund-raiser for May 20 at the Buckman Barn, 2362 Crawfordville Road, in Philomath. Hours are 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and tickets are available at the Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce, Fitzpatrick Hotel, J.M. Sherrer's Store, Mari-Ann's Hair Styles, or one of the PCPA members. Donations are $7.00.
