DORMINY DORMINY Sarah Dorminy, a senior at McIntosh County Academy, was selected STAR Student for 2006 and selected her mother, Jacqueline Dorminy, who taught her physics, as her STAR Teacher.

Sarah plans to study engineering at Mercer University in Macon where she has received a full academic scholarship. She is president of the Beta Club; a member of the McIntosh County Academy Academic Team; and member of the National Honor Society. She was selected as the Blessing of the Fleet Queen for 2006 and is also the valedictorian of the graduating class of 2006.

She selected her mother as STAR Teacher because of her mom's excellent teaching. She has taken three classes from her mother and admits that at first it was awkward having her mom as a teacher, but she worked through it. "She is one of the only teachers who has pushed me to be ready for college," Sarah said. It is the second time her mom has been selected as STAR Teacher.

Sarah is the daughter of Rick and Jacqueline Dorminy. Rick is a graduate of Washington-Wilkes High School. She is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Fred Dorminy of Thomasville. Dr. Dorminy was superintendent of Wilkes County Schools from 1980 through 1986.
