Mrs. Jay Durham was entertained at a morning brunch and baby shower on Saturday, May 13, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Lindsey.

Co-hostesses with Mrs. Lindsey were Taylor Lindsey, Mrs. Joe Bennett Jr., Jenny Brown, Mrs. O.A. Denard Jr., Mrs. Joe Griffin, Mrs. Steven Pickens, Mrs. Steve de Shazo and Mrs. Tommy Wells of Washington; Mrs. Hugh Keener of Tignall; Mrs. Tony Gallo of Augusta; Mrs. Rodney Fowler of Statesboro; and Hillary Lindsey of Nashville, Tenn.

Mrs. Lindsey decorated the entrance, living room and dining room of her home in the same theme as the nursery in the Durham home. Floral decorations of roses, gerbera daisies, Bells of Ireland and false blue indigo arranged by Mrs. Lindsey were used throughout the house. Also used in decorating were original paintings by Mrs. Lindsey, Taylor Lindsey, and Catherine Fievet Blunt of trucks, tractors, planes and trains to complement the theme of the Durham nursery and were special gifts for the nursery.

As guests stepped on the covered front porch, they walked under the porch light decorated with streamers of red, white and light blue in several different patterns and passed an antique baby buggy draped with a quilt in complimentary colors. Just inside the front door was a vignette of flowers in a painted box fronted with a large colorful wooden "D", a copy of the invitation in a painted frame surrounded by toys for little boys. A chest in the living room held an array of baby photos of the prospective parents, Jay and Lee Harvey Durham, amid silver cups and rattles. The dining room table was covered with a blue cloth crisscrossed with blue gingham checked runners tied with ribbons over red mattress ticking and illuminated with large glass votive holders filled with peanut M&M's and a candle. The centerpiece was a tiered display of painted boxes, flowers, monogrammed hats and toys. The chandelier over the table was transformed into a mobile of trains, planes, tractors and trucks hanging from red ribbons with infant shoes hanging from the center. All were given as gifts for the expected baby boy. Also presented Mrs. Durham from the hostesses was a gift card.

Guests enjoyed a brunch of fruit, mini-quiche, ham biscuits, cheese straws, chicken salad timbales and petit fors decorated with blue booties. Tea, water, orange juice, Mimosas and Bloody Mary's were served from the kitchen table and another table on the side screen porch.

Mrs. Durham presented each hostess a scented candle and colorful memo pad tied with ribbon.

One hundred and eighteen friends and family were invited. Special attendees were the prospective grandmothers, Mrs. Jack Harvey of Washington and Mrs. Joe Durham of Greensboro.
