New Washington Farmers Market opens

Filling a void in the local economy, owners Bradley and Katherine Barber (center) cut the ribbon Saturday on their new venture, the Washington Farmers Market on Court Street across from the Old Jail, joined by members of the Washington-Wilkes Chamber of Commerce and local officials. Market vendors will be selling a variety of products including, vegetables, herbs, plants, seedlings, flowers, freshly baked breads and pastries, organic seeds, and homemade pies. Vendors offered free samples of Wilkes County grass-fed beef, boiled peanuts, organic cleaning supplies, candles,and other products.
