Congratulations to all 2006 graduates and best wishes as many of you plan to continue your education this fall, and as you seek jobs. May each of you seek the Lord's guidance in all things. Have faith in yourself, be honest and trustworthy. If ever in doubt just ask yourself, "What would Jesus do?" Remember, the Bible, God's Holy Word, is a great guidebook for life. Many children are excited to be out of school and looking forward to attending Vacation Bible Schools next week in our area, followed by day camps, playing ball, etc. Parents, grandparents, remember, we were young once upon a time. We're in the Pepsi generation. I would like to thank all of you who will be helping work with the children in any way. Your time, effort, patience and good attitude mean so much and will be appreciated more than you might think. Coming up this Sunday afternoon, June 4, there will be a baby shower for Katie Sisson Meech in the Phillips Mill Baptist Church fellowship hall from 2 to 4 p.m. All friends and relatives are cordially invited to take part. For more information, contact Charlotte Waller or Sherrie McAvoy. Please keep praying for all the sick and those who wait on them. I had a good report from my bone doctor Friday, but it will still be a while before I can drive; doctor's orders. The Lord has shown His love through so many people, in so many ways. Thank you. God works in mysterious ways, and loves each of you. "Georgia Neighbor" magazine carries an article about the fifth annual Sunflower Festival in Rutledge on Saturday, July 1. The festival is a labor of love coordinated by members of the West and Holt families

on their Morgan County farm. It consists of 12 acres of sunflowers. The West and Holt family roots started in the Tyrone community of Wilkes County. Bobby West and his sister, Rena West Holt's father, the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Della Johnson West, who also grew up at Phillips Mill Baptist Church. Della was one of 10 children of the late William King Johnson and Fannie Lyle Johnson of Phillips Mill. W.K. Johnson helped raise money for he present church building which was built in the early 1900s. All these families had a set of twins plus others in their family. Among relatives in Wilkes County are first cousins, Carl, Pete, and Bill Moore, children of the late Mark and Essie West Moore, and Robert Jordan Bob and Betty Ann, children of the late Jordan and Dorothy Dora Hintys West, all of Phillips Mill. Last year about 5,000 attended the Sunflower Festival. Bobby will be leading the parade driving an antique tractor. The festival will be open on Sunday, July 2, too. I have seen 12 acres of cotton in my day but not sunflowers. I, for one, am glad most of the cotton days are over, although cotton is very useful and needed. My dad, the late Em. L. Johnson, uncle of Wayne, had some of the longest rows. We called them the Jericho rows.
