Juanita Mickens, Rodney Smith exchange wedding vows Apr. 29

Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Micheal Smith Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Micheal Smith Juanita (Nita) Mickens and Rodney Micheal Smith of Atlanta exchanged wedding vows in a lovely double-ring ceremony on Saturday, April 29, at Christ the Lord Church in Atlanta. Rev. Earl A. Caruthers of Atlanta officiated.

A former Washington resident, the bride is the daughter of Jennie Mae Mickens and George Mickens of Atlanta, formerly of Washington. She is the granddaughter of the late Ida Porter and the late Tommy Lee Gartrell and the late Albert and Janie Starks Mickens, all of Washington.

The bridegroom, originally from New York, is the son of the late Warren and Dianna Smith of Atlanta and the grandson of Abigail Moss of New York and the late Warren and Irene Smith.

Gianna and Shantara Smith of Maryland, Va., lit the candles for the ceremony.

Johnny Mickens III of Conyers served as aisle runner.

Scripture was read by Johnny Mickens Jr. of Conyers.

Clarence Willis of Athens served as best man. Quentavious and Marcus Mickens of Atlanta, sons of the bride; Daniel Herrera of Henry County, Malcolm Smith, Kelvin

Smith and Kareem Smith of Maryland, Va., and Johnny Daniels of Athens were groomsmen.

Georgia Gartrell Miller of Atlanta, sister of the bride, and Irene Mickens Herrera of Henry County, served as matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Melissa Dorsey Sailor, Merlyan Logan and Danisha Mickens of Atlanta, Nichole Herrera of Henry County, Temeka Mickens of Macon, and Lisa Smith of Maryland, Va., sister of the bridegroom.

Merissa and Rianna Smith of Athens, daughters of the bridegroom, were flower girls.

Amber Mickens of Atlanta was the junior bride.

Ring bearer was Marquavious Mickens of Atlanta.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Reception

The couple was honored at a reception at Emerald Estate Clubhouse following the ceremony.

DJ JEFF of Atlanta provided music for dancing during the evening.

The couple honeymooned a week in Montego Bay, Jamaica, before returning to their home in Stone Mountain.
