Emily Dalton Friedman honored at Brit Bat ceremony on May 7
Emily Dalton Friedman A Brit Bat ceremony to introduce Emily Dalton Friedman to her family and friends was celebrated on Sunday afternoon, May 7, at Watchmaker's hosted by her parents, Rich and Misty Friedman.
The ceremony was also held to honor those for whom Dalton is named, Emily Beth Brown, a lifelong friend of her mother and the late Leonard Dalton, her greatgrandfather. Emily Dalton's Jewish name, Bahira Ann, is in honor of her grandmothers, Beverly Ann Wood and the late Claire Marilyn Friedman. Bahira is the Hebrew name for Claire. Dalton will use her Hebrew name when she is called to read the Torah at her Bat Mitzah and when confirmed.
Rev. John Via was the officiant and the Prayer of Kiddush was given by Phil Rothman.
The Kiddush cup used in the service was also the cup used at the wedding of Dalton's parents and at the ceremony for her brother, Jack. The knife for the bread also had special significance as it was used at the wedding of her parents, as well as at the Bris ceremony for brother, Jack.
Family and friends enjoyed desserts of praline brownies and fruit tarts, fresh fruits and margarita punch.
Special guests among the more than 20 guests were grandmothers, Edna Dalton of Jefferson and Beverly Ann Wood of Commerce; and Emily Beth Brown, also of Commerce.
